U. S. Forest Service, Jemez Ranger District

Many of the Jemez Pueblo's ancestral lands are located within the Santa Fe National Forest. The Pueblo of Jemez and the U.S. Forest Service have established a cooperative partnership to monitor management, care, preservation and respect for these ancestral grounds. A full time Jemez District Forest Service Representative is stationed at the Walatowa Visitor Center to answer questions and assist with the following:

  • Jemez District Recreation Information and Handouts Year Around
  • Local Travel Information
  • Forest Road Conditions/Closure Updates
  • Santa Fe National Forest Maps
  • Fire Wood and Latilla Cutting Permits (May - Dec.)
  • Tree Transplant Permits (May - Dec.)
  • Christmas Tree Cutting/Digging Permits (Thanksgiving-Christmas Eve)
  • Golden Eagle, Golden Age and Golden Access Passport Issuance
